Our Technology
Belknap, TX

doctor examining xray with patient at HomeTown Dental at Belknap in Fort Worth, TXTechnology now plays an important role in many areas of our lives, including dentistry. The advancement of tools to better serve our patients and the digital formats we have for receiving and sending information has vastly extended our work and helped our patients improve their oral health. At HomeTown Dental at Belknap, we pride ourselves on staying up to date with current dental education, and that includes the technological resources available to bring the best information to you.

We have incorporated a wide range of technological advancements into our practice, including:

Digital Radiology

X-ray images have long been a valuable tool in dentistry, allowing us to catch hidden problems and disease while it is still small. The advancement of digital X-ray images has greatly intensified our patient’s ability to see and understand what we see. This has enhanced conversation and provides us the resource to educate. With digital radiology, our patients receive the benefit of:

•  Clear Images: The traditional X-ray slide method was tiny and grainy, the patient was unable to see the whole picture, making it difficult to understand. With digital images, the images are taken at a very high resolution that can be zoomed in and out to really see the whole picture in a large, clear format.
•  Fast and Easy: Digital imaging allows us to take X-ray images quickly, with no chemicals to process and no dark rooms to create. The image is snapped and then immediately available on a large screen in your exam room.
•  Less Radiation: The level of radiation used to take traditional dental images made many patients feel uneasy. The digital format uses about 1/10th the amount of radiation to capture, putting most patients much more at ease.
•  Saved: Your digital images will never get lost, they are saved on a computer file that can be accessed by any member of our team whenever needed. We can save them, and share them with other dental professionals, per your request, with the click of a button.

Intraoral Camera

We value our time together, not just to restore dental issues, but to educate our patients on their oral health. An intraoral camera allows us to show our patients images from their mouth using a live stream. The camera is small, about the size of a toothbrush, that we can use to display areas for discussion when creating a treatment plan. The more our patients understand their oral health, the better it will be.

Ultrasonic Scaler

The ultrasonic scaler is used by the hygienist during your dental cleaning. It’s used to break down and then remove hardened plaque, known as tartar or calculus. The huge benefit to this tool is the ease that it provides our patients. The ultrasonic scaler works using a strong directed stream of oxygenated bubbles to blast at the bacteria-filled material weakening its grasp to your teeth. Then the vibrating tip safely removes the material without damaging the enamel. We follow this cleaning with the hand scaling tool to ensure that the teeth are clean.
